LALELA SCARF PAPER TOWEL PUPPET

Lalela runs art workshops for marginalised youth from the townships. The artworks produced by the young artists are reproduced on magnificent wool/silk/cotton blend scarves.

This puppet was a collaboration between Nafisa and Josh at the Lalela Zeitz Mocca after school programs. Nafisa began the year bullying other learners however, we noticed that the more important roles we gave her, the more of a leader she has become.

Josh, is a young boy with boundless energy and a great presence in class. A few months ago, his brother was tragically shot. Josh lost concentration and drive. Slowly, through the work at Lalela and his art, Josh has been able to work through this extremely difficult time.
